“Laquisha,” said the 15 year old girl to her friends in the mostly-white suburban high school the day after she saw a skit about black people on Comedy Central. The inner-city-black-girl-name sensation quickly swept through the halls. “My name is Shanaynay Jackson; hold my earrings,” spoke another white girl. “Kool-Aid,” said a softly smiling young freshman boy in a Zoo York t-shirt. Later that day, every student in the entire school got together and walked out to the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean. Everyone smiled at each other, nodded, counted down from 3, and yelled “I have a weave!” into the setting sun.
